Episode 109:
Building habits of soul care and intentional self-care
Do you prioritise self-care?
Or perhaps you think of self-care as something to treat yourself to now and again - like having a bubble bath?
“And although we might put it in the past saying to ourselves - I don't need to think about that anymore - we’re kind of tricking ourselves, because as you know, it's very much stored in our heart, emotionally it's always there. That's how it's then still with us and is affecting our energy.”
— Nicola Farndell
“For me, self-care is just very surface, it’s only the physical aspect. When you're nourishing your soul, when you're looking after your energetic body, you're actually healing and supporting your physical body in a much, much deeper way.”
— Sara McCready
Today I’m joined by Sara McCready to discuss the importance of soul care versus self-care and the impact of energy on overall health and wellbeing. Sara learned through her own journey healing from toxic relationships the importance of prioritising self-care and approaching it from a place of caring for your soul - something that is such a beautiful approach to have.
We chat about the importance of nervous system regulation and the power of spending any time at all in nature, along with using tools like mindfulness and breathwork to help regulate the nervous system and find balance. Sara shares why our energy is so important to every aspect of our wellbeing and happiness. We explore what our chakras are and how clearing them supports healing from different types of trauma and anxiety.
In our conversation we talk about:
Building habits of soul care and intentional self-care for regulating the nervous system and supporting our energetic body.
Why it’s important to give ourselves permission and time to prioritise our own wellbeing.
The power of being outdoors to promote strong health and lift your energy.
How having awareness of the mind-body connection shifts how you support your health and wellbeing.
The concept of chakras and their connection to your physical and energetic bodies.
The ways trauma and stress can impact your chakras, leading to imbalances in your energy and physical health.
That emotional healing requires feeling and acknowledging emotions to release and heal them, rather than pushing them down or trying to simply move on from them.
Sara’s 3 steps to get started with building habits to regulate your nervous system for better balance.
