Laura Booi is a dementia researcher and advocate for brain health.

Did you know that the health of our brain is almost always the cause for dementia, currently the leading cause of death globally, and here in the UK, the biggest killer of women since 2011? Almost twice as many women will die of dementia than men. And the projections for people being diagnosed with dementia and dying from this chronic disease are rapidly increasing.

This is why we’ve asked expert Dr Laura Booi to join us today and share the reasons why our brain health matters so much and share the research work she’s leading on identifying causes of dementia. Laura is super passionate about protecting our brain and living a long, healthy life.

About Laura:

Dr Laura Booi is a social gerontologist, researcher, educator and consultant. Well-known for her work in dementia and brain health, she is highly respected for her knowledge and expertise in gerontology, which she uses to help individuals navigate life as they age. Her interests in research and advocacy for brain health are born out of the desire to find solutions to both increase the quality of life of people living with dementia now and reduce the population’s risk of dementia in the future.

She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University in the UK and a Global Atlantic Fellow with the Global Brain Health Institute at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland.
