Episode 93:
Don't wait until for an illness to value your health
But why do so many people do exactly this?
“Who is it that looks at someone who's frazzled, overwhelmed, moaning about life and goes, God, how can I be more like you? Nobody. But if someone's in control and they seem like everything's pretty good and they're well and they're healthy and they can exercise and move their body and different things, we hear people saying, I want a slice of that, don't we?”
— Nicola Farndell
“The things that I used to do meant I was always just putting everything and everybody else first and just putting a sticky plaster over everything, and I couldn't sustain that. I just totally burned out and I would never, ever encourage anyone to let this happen to them.”
— Kelly Phinn
Your health really is the greatest asset you own, as without it the things you want for yourself and the great life you desire might just become out of reach. So why is it then that so many of us wait for something to go wrong with our health before realising this?
Our guest today is Kelly Phinn who is passionately sharing why she wants others to not make the same mistake that she made in neglecting her health, waiting until it came crumbling down around her to start prioritising herself and her health. Diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at just 26 years of age, Kelly was faced with a diagnosis of a lifetime taking medication to manage this autoimmune disease. However, Kelly found a different route and is now medication free, having identified the right pillars to build healthy habits in so she can thrive as opposed to just about survive.
