Episode 95:
Overcoming Self-Doubt: Pursuing the Impossible Dream
A Paris 2024 Olympic Special Episode
“I talk about being true to yourself now, but to also give yourself that advice that you would give your younger self if you could. Why not give it to yourself now? Because often we'll just put off and put off and think, I wish I'd done this, I wish I'd done that. But we don't realise that we're still putting off doing it. And then we get to the end of our life and regret it. And I want women to be empowered to have a life where they feel in control and worthy and strong.”
— Nicola Farndell
“I would say, I'm just going to fake it till I make it. And it's not that I'm going to fake it and be an inauthentic human being. For me, fake it till I make it is that I'm going to be the version of myself that I wish that I could be in this moment. I'm going to embody her.”
— Danielle Reedy
To celebrate the buzz of the Paris 2024 Olympics I’m joined in this episode by ex-professional athlete Danielle Reedy chatting all about her road to the Rio 2016 Olympics, and how her journey to get there was one of learning to overcome self-doubt and understanding your inner critic.
So many women lack belief in their ability and worth, resulting in them holding themselves, only to hold onto these regrets, often throughout their lifetime. Danielle shares her journey of building self-worth and confidence, culminating in her experience as an Olympian, where she competed as a synchronised swimmer. She discusses the importance of reframing challenges and choosing the hard path that aligns with your values, and why faking it until you make it isn’t such a bad thing!
The highlights of our conversation are:
Hearing Danielle’s story from a little girl age 8 swimming in her local pool to elite athlete at the 2016 Olympics.

Inspiring you to know that overcoming self-doubt and pursuing your dreams is possible for anyone.
Reframe challenges and choosing the hard path that aligns with your values.
