How herbal rituals help you feel like you again

Rethinking midlife: This isn’t the end

What if midlife wasn’t a slow decline, but a quiet reawakening? Stay with me on this, because I think you might like where this is going!

For many women, this chapter of life starts with disconnection. Your body no longer behaves the way it used to, despite doing everything the same. You feel more tired, more anxious, less like yourself. It feels like you’re losing control of yourself. But as Candice, founder of Mother Cuppa, shared in our recent podcast conversation, midlife can also be the moment you choose to reconnect.

It can start with something as simple as a cup of tea. (Yes, really!)

A healing journey: From endometriosis to empowerment

Candice’s story began long before her business. Diagnosed with endometriosis as a teen, she experienced years of pain, invasive treatments, and eventually a medically induced menopause at just 20 years old. It left her physically and emotionally depleted. At a time when her friends were out partying, Candice was managing hot flushes, medication side effects and isolation. She struggled with being so different to her friends, and of course back then in the early naughties, nobody in middle age was talking about menopause, let alone teenagers!

But it also planted a seed: there had to be another way to support her body.

That seed led her to medicinal plants, herbal teas, and a deep curiosity about the body’s natural ability to heal when given the right support.

The role of ritual: Herbal tea as a daily anchor

Candice didn’t set out to start a business. She simply started blending teas that made her feel better. Ingredients that soothed, grounded, and gently supported her health. Over time, these blends became daily rituals. Small moments of control and care in an otherwise overwhelming season.

Mother Cuppa was born not from a business plan, but from real need and real experience.

What’s in the cup: Adaptogens, nootropics and nourishment

Every Mother Cuppa tea is caffeine-free, intentional, and crafted with care. Candice uses adaptogens like ashwagandha to support your body’s stress response, nootropics to nourish brain health, and nervine herbs to help calm the nervous system.

Her four blends are designed to support different stages of your day:

  • Energise: To start your morning with balance

  • Hydrate: To replenish and refresh

  • Relax: To soothe anxiety and tension

  • Clarity: To support focus and calm brain fog

These aren’t gimmicks. They’re grounded in science and steeped in lived experience.

The power of small shifts: Hydration, tracking and self-awareness

Candice shared how hydration became one of the most powerful changes she made. It sounds simple, but many women in midlife go hours without drinking anything. Add in a few mindful cups of tea throughout your day, and suddenly you’re supporting your digestion, skin, hormones and energy without thinking about it.

She also talked about tracking – her food, her moods, her symptoms. Over time, she began to see patterns. It helped her feel in control again.

Not everything needs to change. But small shifts done consistently? They build trust with yourself. And that’s powerful.

Three gentle steps to reconnect with yourself

Candice offered three reminders for any woman feeling overwhelmed:

  1. Release the pressure: Most of it comes from you. Let go of the need to get it all right.

  2. Listen inward: Don’t just hear your body. Respond to it.

  3. Start with one thing: Swap your afternoon coffee for a herbal tea. Let that be your starting point.

You’re not lost. You’re reawakening.

Midlife might feel like everything is shifting, you with it, but it isn’t the end. It’s the invitation to return to yourself. And often, it comes at a time when life means this is exactly the right moment to reconnect with who you truly are.

Whether it’s a walk, a journal page, or a warm cup of herbal tea, these small rituals help you rebuild your energy, identity and inner calm. They’re not about fixing you. They’re about reminding you of who you are.

You’re not broken. You’re just ready to feel like yourself again.
